As I am doing graphic design at college I sometimes try to get my self together to learn some new Adobe Photoshop CS5 skills ,and to do that I try not to look for any tutorials online because that stuf just goes into one ear and comes out the other. Insted I rather go down WHSmith and buy Photoshop Essentials or Photoshop Tips, Tricks & Fixes. Those books/magazines are quite chunky and the all contain the basics of photoshop with tutorials suited for beginners and experts. Those tutorials are great they show you step by steps of how to get the work done to perfection with nice little print screend to go on the page and detailed information of how to get everything done on the side. Those books/magazines are not cheap at £15.00 each but they also come with a CD that is full of tutorial videos, pictures, textures, unique swatches and brushes. Also if you learn one or two of the tutorials that are given in the book it will save you alot of time in class or at home while doing an assigment or else what.
I was reading through the Photoshop Essentials when I stumbeled up on a design that had used both photography and doodles. It caughr my eyes streight away due to the fact that it is such a simple idea but so well done as a composition and a design that can be reproduced in warious instances
.
This design is provided by Craig Shields.

Just Feel It
This design inspired me to produce a similar design based piece of my own making.
These here are my 2 doodle pages that I spent about 5 minutes doing for the use in my inspirational piece. Nothing special just something that even a child could draw up.
Feel The Flow Within
Before
After
This piece took me roughly 3 hours to produce and I personaly think its not a bad outcome for the first try. I was amazed that such a simple thing like a doodle would work so well when combined with a photo. For my main person in the image I chose a street dancer woman due to her eye catching body that is well flexed out and the long hair that works well in the composition. Than for the complimentary designs to go with my main subject I used my own drawn 5 minute doodles. After for red electricity I used a texture of a cracked concrete. Than for the background I used a black suface overlayed by stars. And to finish things off i added in blue and white lines to get that extra look for the composition. The only thing i would of improved in this desing is instead of using just a plain black background I would of used some sort of black metalic texture.

Nice one, I like what you have done with the original photo, the dancer has so much movement, this has been maintained within the resulting sketch/work. Well done
