Here is my final majour project that i had to produce to finish my Graphic Design Level 3 Course in college.

 

Firstly i had to produce a set of mind maps for idea development to know how to correctly start of producing my Vodka label. Like the idea mind map, the visual communication mind map and the vodka mind map.

After my mind i had drawn up and planned my mind maps it was time to create a mood board of different vodka brands and its imagery. To be honest this mood board wasn't very helpful seen as i got the images of some mainstream Vodka brands and the one i was going to create was all from scratch it was new so there couldn't be any posh fancy embossed or de-bossed lettering of foil stamped type on there. 

The first thing that i had to do was to do some research on some vodka labels that already existed to generate some ideas for my own logo TYPE, DESIGN, FONT and LAYOUT of the logo.

 
I had made my mind up that i am going to design a label and the packaging for a Chilli Vodka so here I gathered some more research on some brands and their logos that contained or were made up of chilli like designs within them and through doing analysis I realised what I had to do to start of my logo design.

For the research purposes I had to look into where and how vodka originated.

I also did some research to find out how the vodka is correctly consumed in Slavic countries.

 

 
 
Here i quickly drew some thumbnail design ideas so I can start of with my logo design and the label design. I thought about the shape and the type that I was going to include in my label and drew it up as a start of point for my development of the design.

To start of this was my first attempt of recreating what I had envisioned and imagined through doing my thumbnails. To begin with i wanted my label and the logo to have a coat of arms look to it seen as today vodka brands like Smirnoff have it on their label designs on the bottle. I tried to recreate a similar like look but after showing this design idea to my tutor. I came to a decision that after all there is too much going on in this logo for it to be used as my final so the next step was to simplify it more for it to look better.

 

Here I attempted to redesign my label completely starting with its typeface to its layout and design. I used impact typeface to add in a look alike of the ABSOLUT vodka label typeface, with some Edwardian Script font over it to give it a little more glamour or plushness to it. The eagles head i used as a symbol for the word brave and in Russia ir symbolizes with the word brave ( Hrabri ). Hoverer my tutor didn't like the oval round shape of the label and he told me i needed to square it out a little more for it to look better. However i did start to think about filling in the bottle a little more by making or designing some bottle lid designs.

I tried to square of the label a little more and here I played with the labels colour and font sizes to see if I could improve on its design.

On the right hand side i have finally design a label that is finished and done with accordance to my tutors like/
I tried to stick with the minimalistic colour approach to my label design just by using BLACK, WHITE, GOLD and a bit of RED in it. I resized and layed out the type efficiently on the label and I added in my own signature to give the label something unique. Overall I recon as the month went on the logo has improved tenth fully, and I am happy with the outcome results.
